The police are like any other organisation - sometimes the person you get on the phone simply does not care.
Keep calling them until you speak to a good person who actually wants to help.
If you should have been given a crime ref number, then you will get one - it just depends on who you speak to, and if they are in a helping mood or not..
I always keep ringing any organisation or company until i'm possitive I have been given what is entitled.0
