Best Eats around Inverness/Black Isle

Options
We're about to spend a couple of weeks in this area (Maryburgh - The Seaforth Estate) and I think we've got the walks sorted and the beaches (thanks to the excellent thread on here).

But where are the best places to eat and drink- both daytime munchies and evening dining? We're into good food/local food and good beer - the Black Isle brewery is, of course, a 'must'.

Your suggestions - from cafes to pubs to fish and chippies to restaurants - will be greatly appreciated.

I'd recomend the Plough Inn, Rosemarkie.

They're really friendly, great food, real ales and they even welcomed my boisterous children: happy to modify main meals for kids :)

Another tip: DON'T go to the "filling station" in Inverness it's awful!

We had a beautiful meal there a few months ago. They cater equally well for adults and mini portions of the same gorgeous food (not rubbish burgers or chicken nugget nightmare normally get for kids) and it was delicious. Staff lovely and meal for 3 adults wine bottle wine and 1 child was £70 in all.

Also we ate in a place called Off the Rails which again was superb. Not so child friendly but food fantastic and very relaxed informal atmosphere.
  • sorry gave you slightly wrong info yesterday, Off the Rails is in Plockton, not Inverness!
  • Hi there,
I would recommend Jimmy Chungs all you can eat buffet in town center.
Great lunch for 3.99 adults and 1.99 11 and under.
Food is always being put out fresh. Staff very friendly - kids get lollipop at end of meal. There is a starter tolley - 2 main course trolleys - 2 desert trolley see https://www.jimmychungs.com. Sorry dont know how to do links
  • seem like I do!!!
  • Just want to say "Thanks" for all the above (unfortunately ex-eastender we'd already gone by the time of your post - but there'll be another time!).

The Plough at Rosemarkie really was good and we also found The Anderson at neighbouring Fortrose was of comparable quality (if anything, the bar is even better stocked)
