Hi. Tending to a poorly hamster this weekend. We were at the vets with her on Friday night and she's either got a respiratory infection or possibly tumours. Obviously we're hoping it's the former. She was given a steroid injection and we're to give her 0.04ml of antibiotics once a day for a week. Poor ickle thing....she's making such awful wheezing sounds and sounds very sorry for herself. TBH the vet was sort of suggesting that it might be the end for her. I didn't think you could get so attached to a hamster. She usually lives at DD2's dad's house, but they are away for a few weeks.
It occured to me that she might be allergic to our cat?? Anyone ever heard of a hamster being allergic to other pets?YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)

            Hi SuzySu,
Never heard of a hamster being allergic to a cat....but if said hamster has a respiratory infection then they will be wheezing. TBH wheezing usually sounds worse than it is. Guess you'll just have to give it a lot of TLC and see what happens.

Thanks Butti. She does sound very squeaky. I just don't want her to be in pain, but she's a lot brighter than she was on Friday night. I really thought that was it....you know, when the vet says "I'll leave you alone for a few minutes..." DD2 was in bits. She's doing her AS level exams at the moment too, so REALLY don't want anything to upset her.YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)

Sorry Buffy.....needed to do a shop. She's 2 and I think Syrian hamsters' life expectancy is 2-4 years.YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)

I have just done my first bit of gardening in 2 years and although I only did about 20 minutes I am proud of what I achieved.
I hate gardening with a passion and last year the back garden got very overgrown because it was a wet summer and I couldn't be bothered and nothing was done and nothing has yet been done this year. I couldn't even gain access to the garden (it is at the top of stone steps as I am on a sloping site) because the steps had been covered by a chystanthemum bush (might be a rhodedondron, dunno, big tall wide bush thing with pink flowers, grows like crazy) on the left hand side all the way up and a palm and buddleigh on the right hand side. I bought some £3 Value shears today and cut back it all back enough to get up the steps.
The state of the garden at the top is........mature:eek::eek::eek:.....and way out of control.
I have been offering OH that I will pay his son to come and do some general clearing, weeding etc (all physical stuff I can't really do and to be honest have no motivation to do) but he keeps giving excuses as to why he hasn't asked him if he wants to do any. I guess there is probably a weeks physical work for someone to get the back and front tidy and useable.
I don't care that OH will say that I didn't do x, y or z when he sees the steps are clear. Short of the garden looking like Ground Force have been around, he will find something to critisise.
So, for today, what I have done is enough. And I am proud of myself.
And a bit hot "Stay Wonky":D "Stay Wonky":D

well done BB, have a pimms to cool yourself.
Why don't you ask your OH's son yourself? otherwise, i'm sure there will be a retired gent somewhere who would do it as you are paying.Cats don't have owners - they have staff!! DFW Long Hauler Supporter No 1500 DFW Long Hauler Supporter No 1500
