Car

I'm sure this question has been asked 100 times before but......our car is worth approx £1400 (parkers guide poor). It is our only car and DH needs it to get to work. Will they make us sell it and get a new one for less? He travels 50 miles round trip every day and I am worried that an even cheaper car would just cost us more in repairs etc.
Thanks for your help

You need to tell the receiver why you have to keep the car rather than want to if that makes sense, is it just you going BR or hubbie as well??We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0

Both my husband and I went BR. The car was in my name but I no longer needed it for work but DH did - 40 miles round trip daily. Because the car was in my name there was a little glitch because creditors would see I have an asset that I no longer need... common sense prevailed within my OR but should DH have been able to get the bus to and from work the car would have gone.
You'll hear many times that no two OR's are the same, it's so difficult to call. It's your job to make sure you have the facts and figures to prove that the car is absolutely essential for work purposes just as Phil said.0 -
It is both of us gong BR. The car is in his name an he has to have 'a' car for work as there is no public transport links here. Am I right that they normally 'allow' £1000 for a car? I am pretty confident that we could prove that we need a car (live very remote, have three under 5s that need big car for child seats, his work etc). Finally getting my life on track. I dont think you will have any problems, if you can show that you need it then the OR normally allows cars up to £2,000Hi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.
