Does anyone know the average Wattage for Fridges/Freezers??

    Google won't tell me.

    thanks

Thats almost like asking 'a 'How long is a piece of string' question.

The wattage is not that important. It is how efficient it is, how often it is used, how full it is, size, where it is situated etc.

I have a large chest freezer situated in a garage. In the summer it uses approx 9 kWh a week - say 90p. In the winter when the garage is cold it is about 6 kWh a week.

A very large & expensive larder fridge in a kitchen uses only about 3 kWh a week.

The best way to find out is look at the manufacturers websites and some give average annual consumptions for their fridges/freezers.

I can't find an average wattage for an immersion heater - ideas anyone? It's not ancient - I reckon less than 10 yrs old, but I moved into a small 3 bed house 6 months ago, and my last electric bill has come in at £330 for 3 months!!! I'm staggered (especially as I was £19 in credit at the last bill). I lived in a 6 bed house prior to this and my monthly bill was bad enough at £80 a month. With Powergen about to hike up rates I'm looking to not only switch provider, but reduce my usage. I'm convinced that the water heater, which is my only source of hot water is the culprit, since I'n no longer running a dishwasher, and other appliances are as they were (powergen was my provider at last address). With 4 kids it's difficult to keep tabs on everything they use, but they don't leave tv's on standby, altho' a PS2 only has a standby option unless you unplug it!

Also, anyone know of any attractive screw in low energy bulbs, suitable for replacing spotlights - smaller size? I use low energy bayonet bulbs elsewhere.
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home
