getting rid of a default

After having had a great credit score, I have got 4 late payments on a barclays credit card. The mortgage advisor says that he cant get me a mortgage due to this.
He suggested calling Barclays and asking them to write a letter to experian and remove (or putting a note next to the defaults) to try to improve credit score.
Has anyone done this before and do you think it may work?
Have never been late on a payment or anything before, this is just such a bad blip in ,my credit score.

They won't be removed - they only would be if they were factually incorrect.
IF it was possible to just ask to have adverse credit removed, there wouldn't be any point in credit histories.0 -
Why would Barclays do this, by your admission you did default. Barclays obligation is to notify the credit reference agency of your payment history which your credit file now does.
Only time they would put a correction is if, for some reason, the defaults were incorrect.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.0 -
thats what i thought, but i am so so fed up with people giving me false hope all the time, why cant these mortgage advisors just do their job and tell the truth!! Aaarrggghhh......been told too many lies by two different advisors, put house on market on their advice and now paid for decorators, estate agents, and home report, and 9 months of tidying this house (while watchign a 3 and 2 year old) and all for nothing
thanks for being honest0 -
joe - when you say 'advisors' - have you spoken to a whole of market broker or do you mean advisors as in just the lenders you've tried?0

I would definitely suggest seeing a broker, being honest and open about the situation. We are in the same boat and have a little hope. There are some lenders who may consider it.First baby due 3/3/14 - Team Yellow! Our little girl born 25/2/140

Thanks you guys, I will defo go to a whole of market broker, the problem is the financial advisor who told me it was fine to put house on market and that I was guaranteed a mortgage from Halifax, was my cousin, makes me even more mad!!
Its just if we get given a mortgage with a poor interest rate, Im not sure if it makes the move morth tripling the mortgage for, its all so difficult and annoying
But i will keep trying before giving up, thanks0
