F'Direct have up'd my limit - Advice Needed please.

Options
Hi all,

I've just managed to get my First Direct limit raised from 10k to 15k.

Now what I would like advice on is how shall I stooze this through my Egg Card into my savings ;)

The initial BT with First Direct was to my Egg Card, so from what I understand, I can't BT to my Egg Card again.! :(

These are my other cards and limits:

Virgin - £6k
Amazon / Halifax - £6k
HSBC - 10k (Obviously can't BT to this one)
Egg - 10k (All ready BT'd from First Direct)

So what I was thinking is to BT this extra 5k onto my Amazon or Virgin - Then BT from Amazon or Virgin back onto my Egg Card.

Please note that I have all ready BT'd from my Virgin and Amazon onto my Egg.... is this gonna cause a problem?

Any advice or suggestions welcome.

Thanks.

Aren't you still doing a BT to EGG even if you move it onto another card first?

What's the point of moving it twice? and back to another card... if you move to Virg you can do SBTs to shift it for stoozing...

    Maybe I'm missing something?

is it you or me? LOL

As Newbird says Virgin allow SBTs, so BT the money to them and then staright to your bank account (assuming you are still in the promotional period so you don't get a BT fee).

I think its only First Direct who say you can't BT to the same company twice. The rest should be ok.

ok guys - I've spoken to Amazon and they too don't allow you to BT twice to the same card. However Virgin do allow this... and I've just spoken to Virgin and they said I can do a SBT - and there is no Fee - YIPPEEEEE! - This is gonna be easier than I thought :)

    Thank you so much guys!

Newbird - I'm sorry - I thought that Virgin being a part of MBNA charge a fee to do a SBT ;) - So ur right - It's ME!

It sounds as though you've solved your problem. Just a passing thought, would you have been allowed to get an Egg Blue Card and made a positive balance. Does Egg Blue count as separate from Egg Green, or is it counted as the same company for First Direct's purposes?

Well I asked First Direct the same thing - and they said it wouldn't be allowed :(
  • Try applying for a new FD card online under 'Apply' when you are logged on. They will allow you to move Black>Gold or Gold>Black if you pass their criteria. If successful, you qualify for another 6 months at 0% and can transfer to egg again, as this is a new card on new terms.

Are you on 0% BT with FD, if you've just got the card, how come they upped your limit to £15k, if you just move the extra £5k, you'll be getting 5%ish in a saving s account, but having to pay back the £5k unless you want to incur interest, or are you in a 0% period ?

    Hi all,

Just to give u all an update... in the end I sent this extra 5k through my Virgin Card and have just SBT'd it into my Current Account.

Virgin confirmed - I am not going to be charged a BT Fee :)
