I have a V small pension with standard life managed fund approx value £1550

I work for a university should i transfer it to my final salary scheme ?

You can ask how many extra years (months?) it would buy. If you don't want all eggs in one basket and prefer to keep some flexinility on retirement age , may be better to move it to a better Std Life fund - or several. If it is a personal pension, there are some good ones available, especially on the external funds list.
