Wedding vows

i am getting married on a football pitch by a registrar.
i would like to write my own vows and luckily the registrar is a relative so a have quite a lot of freedom.
but this may seem like a silly question
do we have to say the exact same vows to each other?
i would like to keep my vows a secret from my H2B

I think you'll have to say the same standard vows for the legal side, but then you can add your own personal ones too after.

When we went to meet with the registrar & pay the fees last week, we were given the option to write our own vows. There are certain legalities that HAVE to be in there, then you can pretty much say what you want.

I guess if you want to you could each write your own & let the registrar have copies, then you can read / repeat them at your ceremony.

The bit you have to say legally is quite short...it's basically declaring your names, that there's no legal impediment, and calling those present to witness etc etc.
After that all the sickness/health, richer/poorer, death us do part bit is entirely down to you
The following clarifes the wordings available depending where you are - assuming you're marrying in Scotland it's different to down here
