try local freeshare or freecycle group - you might be able to get some second hand items without having to go to charity shop n pay for them
  • We already had our own (mortgaged) house and a LOT of debt to go with it (At one point I recently calculated over 35k of debt + mortgage and student loan)

It has been really really hard 12 months, we are selling virtually anything that we have that sells, sold the two cars that were on finance, now drive a £300 banger which will be replaced with another at some point in the next 4 months till its MOT runs out when something comes up cheaply, and then its going to be broken for parts.

but you survive - it is in your instincts and make do with what you have.
    £4142.49/ £131,795.91 - 3.14% paid off or only £129,608.80 to go!

I know this is easier said than done in the current climate, but if your current contract prevents you from having a second job and this is something you want to do, is it possible to switch jobs to something similar for another company whose contract maybe wouldn't have this restriction? You might even be able to negotiate a better salary in your main job.

Getting paid a lot would suggest to me that your problems are more based on outgoings rather than income.

Have you been through the stages of 'housekeeping' that I suggested earlier in the thread?
You'd be amazed at what you can save when you're fully on top of your outgoings.

I don't want to labour the point, but list EVERYTHING that leaves your bank account, down to the tenner you draw out to pay for your newspaper and lottery ticket.
Keep a rolling bank balance, so you know how much you've got in the bank going forward. This will make it easier for you to question if you really need that purchase or not.

Like I said, I run a money-saving newsletter. Sign up, have a look. It might help you, as will this forum and many others that are available.
PM mefor details if you want them.
Trust me.... I know what I'm doing.
