Have you thought about doing your degree via the Open University? If you earn less than £30,000 you would get your fees paid for and if the course you are studying for is 30 points or more you may qualify for a grant.

I am in my second yr of a degree. My DMP started in jan 2008 9 months before I started uni. I will also come out of uni with 25k debt as I have been supporting my five kids on student finance the last 2 yrs. BUT in my defence I will come out with a professional qualification which is the only reason I was prepared to go the Uni way. Plus I strongly feel that my degree in my vocation. I feel in the long run I will earn more than without the degree. I would hope to earn aboit 26k within a yr of starting work. Yet without a the degree I would be lucky to earn 15k as I have always dont un-skilled low paid work.

I am going to try and pay off my dmp this year........ It is massive but I need it gone some how b4 I leave uni and have to start paying the student debt.

I have never had any problems with the cccs and being student but giving the figures can be v confusing..

Good luck and enjoy your degree.

I was made redundant in March and one of my options for September is a one year Masters in Housing - I want to work in development for a social landlord. Because the course is focused on Thursday and Friday the tutor suggested I may be able to work Monday and Tuesday with a local social landlord. This is the recommended approach as I get experience at the same time as the qualification.

Have a look at the course timetable and see if this is an option for you.

Also in my first yr I was only in 3 days a week. I did voluntry work on 2 days per week as it helped to give me some more relevant professional experience.
