I was told that it is better to have a seperate washer and dryer because the the combo ones are more likely to break down.
I know they take up twice as much space but if you can find room then it is worth considering because it could save you money in the long term.0 -
I bought my first washer dryer [Colston] in 1975 and am on my third one now. I have only ever had minor repairs on any of them. I moved house a total of six times with the first two and I know washing machines do not like being moved. I must have been really lucky or their reputation is not as bad as recorded.:hello: N:hello:A :hello:N :hello:A :hello:M :hello:A :hello:G :hello:S :hello:0

Putting 'cheap' and 'washer/dryer' in the same sentence is a recipe for disaster...
I've got one, Zanussi and definitely not cheap, recommended by which, and it's still not great.
It does the job, and I don't have room for two separate machines, so I'm happy.
But I would recommend either buying them separately, or invest in a good one.0 -
Gumtree is always one option for household stuff - just change the city to your nearest one and then do a search.
Also perhaps try your local Freecycle group? These are Yahoo Groups that are run by volunteers, where you can post things you have to give away, or if you need something for free. We've had success in both receiving and giving away things via our local two Freecycle groups (some local groups are called Freegle, due to a split in the hierarchy).0 -
I noticed that the British Heart Foundation charity shop had a range of refurbished hoover washers etc in stock. They were mostly around £295 and looked pretty much new to me. Not sure if this would be within budget but hth.£2 savers club no.107 :j £36 so far.0

This is true! I have an Indesit washer/dryer and after only 2 years had to replace the computer thingy in it. It's working ok now but next time I'd spend more for sure!0 -
I wouldnt use a indesit if they paid me0
