misskool wrote:If you are posting a competition, can you read post #2? or do a quick search? the search this thread function DOES work, type the answer and you can find where it's already been posted before.
Yes it does I have just tried it with 3 different question on this thread by typing in the answers and they all worked.
It may well be that ManTheMan just wants people to thank him for:
1. Posting a comp again :j
2. Winding some people up :j
3. Saving people having to look at post number 2 :j3.795 kWp Solar PV System. Capital of the Wolds0 -

I've often seen people ask for a new thread and often wondered why? Surely it doesn't matter how long the thread is?:smileyhea "here, hare, here" :smileyhea0 -

Yes, please, guys, before posting what you think are new comps, links, etc., p-l-e-a-s-e have a look at posts 1 and 2 - especially 2!!
Now I know that newbies - especially newbies to the whole internet thing :hello: - might not know it, and that's why I'm being so nice (:D), but it really is bad manners to make repeat postings.
I know we're opening up a can of worms here, and we've been through it all before. I shall be called an evil man, intolerant, etc., etc. Look, I've got the tee-shirt. OK?
Yes, I know some people don't have time to read back through the whole thread. In that case, read post 2. It's all that is necessary.
To make an analogy ... If you spot a group of friends chatting :grouphug: , do you walk up to them and just blurt things out, even though they may have already been said, or do you listen to see what's being talked about? If you were just to rush up and interrupt with a bit of news without paying attention to what anyone was saying, I'm sure they'd consider you a bit rude - at the least - especially if they'd just been talking about that news two minutes earlier. It's annoying. :wall:
Well, it's like that here. Only it's all written down. So you can check. And everything we've nattered about is in post 2. Innit? And Jules works really hard on that! So, please. Check. Pretty please ... :kisses:
So many thanks for being a good sort who wants to share your latest discovery. That's great! That's what this thread really is all about. But do check to see that no-one was there before you. (If that sounds a bit condescending or patronising, it's not meant to, honest).

Look, do I have to think of absolutely everything you're going to throw at me??

Why hasn't this pigsback thread got 'sticky' status.
based on the number of posts and number of views it should be.
I must admit that I seldom check post 2 because Jules, misskool and others post new links daily (also you only get one shot at 'thanks' on post 2)
I enjoy the fun chats on here, sometimes I skip through just for the links and so far have only found two members on MSE that tend to be nasty.
If someone duplicates a post wouldn't it be nicer to say 'previously posted' and reference the original post. What you type may be correct but can be read the wrong way (I was once told I should be a Barister based on my emails  )
p.s. OH wont let me dye my hair pink for Thursdays party :mad:0 -
