Condensation in container storage

I am moving my furniture into storage and am looking at outside container storage. The owner assures me that as the containers are ones used on ships that they are air tight and will keep my stuff dry. I am slightly concerned but have been told that de-humidifiers will help to keep the container dry. Does anyone know of a good humidifier that won't cost an arm and a leg. The container size is 20' x 8' x 8'

Dehumifidiers have a tank which need emptying every few days or a hose for permanent drainage. I don't understand how you could install a dehumifidier in a sealed container.
I have Ebac dehumidifiers that work really well. How does the price compare to places like Big Yellow Storage? The one near me keeps calling me with offers after I made an enquiry. They are certainly up for negotiating their prices.0 -

Me neither. They need an electrical supply, don't think containers have an electric feed?
One thing I would suggest is to check whether the firm has suitable insurance to cover any such mishaps or consider getting your own if not.Herman - MP for all!

No experience of containers but this was something I was worried about when I bought one of those metal sheds for the garden. I read on a forum that condensation can be a problem with them but I have had it for 2 years now and not had any problems.0

It's a known problem with shipping containers, and there are several solutions, dessicants and absorbent paint on the inside being the main two. Bear in mind these containers are used for transporting thousands of pounds' worth of fragile electronic stuff through tropical and arctic seas ..
See here, here, here.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0
