slow cooker question

I have found my old slow cooker in the shed! (yippee!) no manual though and I'm confused about the auto setting. It is a cordon bleu slow cooker with removable ceramic pot and lid. I would say about 3.5litres. How does the auto setting work? I remember being confused about it last time (probably why it ended up in the shed come to think of it...) I have got a mince sauce in there at the mo and wondering how long it will take? :)

I think this is the same as mine. Is it a creamy coloured one with a brown ceramic pot? Off to dig out instructions......

    OK here's what it says.....

'When auto is selected, the slow cooker will automatically begin cooking in 'High' temperature mode until the cooker reaches a temperature of 96-97 degrees. At this point the cooker's thermostat will switch to 'low' setting. Temperature will be maintained, and if necessary 'high' setting will be re-selected depending on changes in ambient temperature, etc'

So high is 98-99 degrees, low is 92 degrees, and auto is somewhere in between! HTH!

thanks Poggie, much clearer now. I have found a manual for a tower slow cooker I had so I'll use the recipes off that to get started (plus the recipes on the forum) The mince turned out lovely, I cooked it from 3pm till about 11pm on auto and it was nice, I got up this morning and divided it into plastic boxes to put in freezer so I have 4 meals ready now for when I'm knackered (tomorrow probably!) feel quite virtuous and organised now...

Thanks for the info, much appreciated :)
