not really we were just talking about joining the same counterstrike game.

Both Planetside and Counterstrike are online only games.

Planetside is a "one world" game when every player in the world can potentially log on and see all the other people. First game in the world like this. WHen it first started I saw 300 players try to take over a base defended by 300 players. From a distance it just looks like sheer chaos.

Counterstrike Source is the largest team based game in the world with over 50 million players. Unlike Planetside, you connect to one of thousands of servers each time you play. Each server can only hold between 1-64 players with the average being about 20.

So, in order to play with a mate, you need to make sure you both have the same server IP address to connect to, so you can player together. The game has an easy connect screen to deal with this or you can join any randon game.

In this game you choose to be either a Counter Terrorist or Terrorist. You must work with your team to win the round, usually lasting 3-4 minutes.

The game is free when you own a copy of Half Life 2, as it uses the same graphics engine. It is an update (not sequel) from Counterstrike, which was based on the Half Life 1 engine.

Buy owning Half Life 2, you get to download loads of free total conversions of the game like Counterstrike for free. Hence its moneysaving gaming.
