Travel details for honeymoon

Hi I am after a bit of advice regarding my travel details for my honeymoon. Do I book the tickets in my maiden name to match the passport, even though when I travel I won't legally be called that or do I book them as my married name. If the latter how does that work with my passport as that will say my maiden name. I hope that makes sense
Thanks
Thanks

I'd book it in your maiden name.
I'm sure you can get a passport in your married name upto a couple of months before you get married (I think, check that out but that's what I remember), but if your passport isn't due to run out any time soon, I wouldn't bother as it's just more expense.
There is a thread here if you want to search for it, about what ladies are doing about their honeymoons/booking/passports.
Most of them are booking and travelling in their maiden names, especially if the honeymoon is shortly after the wedding.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
I think booking it in your maiden name is the best option as tickets have to match your passport.
If you want to be called "Mrs..." for the first time (cos it's exciting!!) I believe you can apply for a different passport up to 3 months in advance of your wedding, although you're not able to use it until the wedding date. For most places if you book in your married name you can take your marriage certificate as long as there's a clear link between the names. Some countries will not accept an unamended passport though (ie maiden name), so check with the travel agent.0 -

I've got a feeling this was a no no in most countries (after the last thread!). I'm going with the maiden name. If you want it change before hand the registra has to sign a load of stuff.0 -
I started a similar thread as i was also confused! In the end we have have booked the honeymoon in my maiden name as i don't want to pay for a new passport! all my documents are in my maiden name and i want to go on holiday without the stress of having to get everything changed before I go. Also, I have heard that a lot of airports won't accept a marriage license if you book the holiday in your new name but your passport is in your maiden name! Now a married lady and loving it! Now..to clear that pesky mortgage! :beer:0

Hi thanks for the replies, So I wont be doing anything illegal by keeping it as my maiden name?0

Nope

Many people don't change their passports until they need to and continue to travel as Miss blah blah for years after.
My SIL had to renew her passport 6 months before her wedding for a business trip so obviously wasn't going to do it again to change her name (its like £70!) so she didnt. She says she will change it in 3 years though when it expires
As we're getting married abroad I will be Miss on my honeymoon but we're making sure EVERYONE knows
As long as your passport matches your ticket then you can travel in any name!Green and White Barmy Army!0 -
of course you arent doing anything illegal. you dont HAVE to change your name when you get married, lots of women dont. its just traditional to take your husbands surname as a 'known as'
Please book your tickets in your maiden name and keep your passport the same, ive heard horror stories of people turning up with married name tickets, maiden name passport and a marriage certificate and not even being allowed to check in at the airport! What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -

Ok thanks I will do that, don't want to risk not being able to fly. I will just change my passport when in runs out0 -
hey, my W2Bs passport don't run out till 2015 so instead of paying for a new passport in our married name, she's booked her honeymoon in her maidan name and we've just gotta take t he marriage certificate over with us0

As everyone has already said, book in your maiden name.
But do take your wedding certificate as many hotels will give you freebies as newly weds but often require proof that you ARE newlyweds
