Sounds like it might be brisket then.

Not enough time in the slow cooker, perhaps put it in the oven on gas mark 3/4 for 2/3 hours.

Has it got cooking instructions on the back where you peel the label off?
    :hello:
  • Yes says for med beef cook for 25 mins per 500g plus 25 mins or well done 30mins per 500g plus 30mins

  • Think i will just do it in the oven now, but will remember for next time that it takes a bit longer in the slowcook

When I have put brisket in the slow cooker before I have left it while I was a work, on slow, so probably 8-9 hours or so.

It probably would have been fine. I bought a brisket of beef in Tesco's today, popped it in slow cooker on high when I got home at 1.30pm and we ate at 6.30pm, and it was delicious. As a rule of thumb if you would cook something for 8 hours on low, it will cook on high in about 4 hours, though as it is cooking more quickly it won't be quite as tender. That being said, our joint was lovely.
