See the DMP for me has changed my life round for the better.
When I was at my worst I was a beer swilling, takeaway scoffing, overweight, miserable and depressed toerag. And in a lot of debt of course with nothing to show for it.
(Lovely! - not quite the suave and sophisticated gentleman we all know now?)
Three years on I'm still beer swilling a little, but I've lost two stone, am a lot happier, appreciate life and money and family more. Also getting rid of my car made a tremendous difference as it was an unnecessary expense, and I walk everywhere I can now, it's a lot more healthy too! (Imagine the hundreds in gym fees, etc.etc some people spend)
What a refreshing post. I know life is good for you, even with the DMP. It can only get better for you with your new values.
And I'm very sorry but your description of your former self made me- nothing like exaggerating your finer points is there?

Santander are being a little awkward. I am on a dmp with CCCS which they were informed about in Jan (started March 11) They said they hadn't received an I/E form so I faxed one from debt remedy as requested. They now say they need bank statements, wage slips, details of other creditors etc. Do I ring CCCS or do I send them this info. Any advice would be welcome. At least I refused to give them my work no and mobile no.0

Debt guidelines say they have to communicate with CCCS if you have given permission. MY advice is just confirm that CCCS are acting for you and email and call CCCS.
Hope that helps HH x0 -

Hi Antk
You are not obliged to give them anything extra. CCCS are now working for you on your behalf and rest assured CCCS have passed on details of you and your new payment plan to them, do not be bullied into giving such personal details about yourself especially bank statements which would reveal your account number!
Don't panic, Lloyds did exactly the same to me sending me a form to complete saying they wouldn't be able to arrange a debt plan with me unless they had full details about me including bra and pant size
CCCS give the creditors all the info they need. It's just a tactic creditors use to try and squeeze more money from you. Stay strong and keep to your monthly payment and you will be fine.DMP support thread member 211 :cool:I'm only here to get some medals......honest!0 -
Hi all,
I am in the early stages of setting a DMP up with CCCS. They recieved my agreement signed today. I have managed to pay my bills upto to now so I dont have any CCJ's or anything against me. But now like many now starting to worry how im going to pay them. Some of you may think Im making a mountain out of a mole hill as they saying goes. I owe £7000 on a loan, nearly £4000 on a credit card and I have a £1300 over draft which I permanently live in. Im nearly at the end of it.
I know its partly my fault and im sick of worrying weither will the cost of living bills etc, had a paycut too, am I gonna go over my overdraft. So I decided to go on a DMP.
Now im having 2nd thoughts about it. I just wanted some advice? Am I doing the right thing?
Any advice would be approecated. Thanks
Midge
Starting up a DMP is such a rollercoaster of emotions, but rest assured it's the best thing you will ever do to break the cycle of being dependent on credit.
My advice would be to make your budget realistic enough so you have a bit of a life whilst paying your debts.DMP support thread member 211 :cool:I'm only here to get some medals......honest!0 -
Yes...I get a statement every month..and they have lowered interest to .695%
Did OPUS keep the interest rate at the same level as CITI. I am concerned that CITI has stopped interest charges but OPUS may have re-introduced them but because I am not getting statements I cannot tell.
Ay help much appreciated.

Guy on the phone informed me they would continue with no interest or charges as with my previous dmp but lo and behold the statement showed they were added the same day, girl on the phone this morning tried telling me it was because i wasn't in a payment plan with them at that point as i'd not sent in my income and expenditure. Anyway after half hour of her going back and forth they have removed £113 interest and charges and confirmed no more will be added in the future, just feel really happy with this and thought i'd share

Thanks for your replies Hopelessly Hopeful and Toffee Penny. I will send a letter to Santander (recorded delivery) giving them my DMP no and permission to speak to CCCS and will also email CCCS. I knew things had been going far too smoothly. We have 9 creditors, 8 of whom stopped interest immediately and we've had no phonecalls or any other hassle until now.0

There seems to be quite a few of us in the position where we will probably have to reduce our monthly payment to CCCS this month - because OH is self employed, and the work has been down this last month if we paid our normal amount we will not be able to pay the other bills ie mortgage next month.
I am really loathe to reduce the payment as things are really quiet on the creditors front and most of them ie 10 out of 13 have stopped interest and I am worried they will start charging it again/phone calls etc. Could anybody who is on a DMP and has reduced their payment for a couple of months by quite a lot ie half let me know how their creditors reacted.
Thanks
Hi
OH is self employed in the building trade and you can imagine what the recent winter weather did to his incomeWe couldn't pay our DMP for two months on the trot over Christmas so CCCS reduced our payment to each creditor so they received just £5 each.
I sent along a letter to explain our situation and some of our creditors replied saying that's ok however Halifax and Barclaycard started up interest again.
I wouldn't worry too much about what creditors will and won't do; it's obvious on here the same companies treat everyone so differently so no one rule fits all applies. Just pay what you can realistically afford and hope they sympathise this time. Paying for a roof over your head and food in tummies comes before any creditor.DMP support thread member 211 :cool:I'm only here to get some medals......honest!0 -

May I add a few adjectives to that? I was a (partially) wine snobbish ABC girl, manic insomniac (no connection there, then), who breezed through life like there was no tomorrow. And in a lot of debt of course with nothing to show for it.
As for takeaway scoffing, does anyone remember, when we finally got a takeaway, the local Chinese thought we all had swine flu because we hadn't ordered for a month?
Two years on (ok, in Sept) I'm still wine swilling a little, but it's Asda's best, all the better cos it's paid for, and agree totally with the sentiments about appreciating life more.I will never spend money in the same way again, ever.
