Hope everyone is well and not too hot!

Am now in my tenth month with Payplan, next month will mean I've paid over £4000, very satisfying! Regarding Metropolitan niggles they are *still* niggling, but I had advice on here that their threatening letters are automated, and phoning clears it up. Really don't want to phone (sad, I know) and Payplan don't seem to be much help so have written a firm letter saying I've been paying them already via Payplan, so will see what happens. Also HSBC overdraft have just started grumbling and sending letters (they have been asleep so far - "pending") and I've used the same tack.

I'm about to send off a F & F offer to Red Castle, who have taken over my Post Office account. I'm starting with around 25% and will see how that goes. Am now going over and over everything and having last minute niggles, ugh! I've read about third party cheques but don't really have anyone to ask, so will use a banker's draft for payment if it gets that far. Depending on how that goes I'll then try it with Cabot, who bought my Egg account. Was very nervous about even just writing to both creditors for balances (esp Red Castle, who still haven't officially accepted and made threats some months ago then went quiet), but both replied quickly and were quite helpful.

Wishing all the newcomers best of luck, it does get easier (gradually!) and like Twit Head said, it does become a new way of life.

    Fabulous news Yellow Pinky!
Over £4000 paid and looking at a Fand F? Well done you
I'm way behind you but plodding on. Every little drop in that balance is a huge step in the right direction. :)

Good Luck with your offer - hope it goes well for you.

  • Hi all,

I'm supposed to be making my first payment to CCCS by the first of July but I've had to pay soemthing out unexpectedly this month- bloody unexpected car repairs totalling nearly £100.00!

Would I be able to just pay CCCS a reduced amount to what they say it should be? I should be paying £124.00 but this won't be possible.

I will be calling them later when I get in from work but I just wanted to know if this is a possibility or if I'm going to have to find the £124.00 from somewhere?!

(I originally posted this in the 'Ask a CCCS Counsellor A Question' forum but thought then that you lovely people may know the answer!)

    Hi

Maybe they will reccomend delaying your DMP start date until August and sending all of your creditors a token payment instead

Hi everyone. I've been around MSE for a while. I was Debt Free Wannabe, but I guess I didn't want it enough. I continued spending and was able to meet all our obligations. Now my Girlfriend has had to leave her job, it's a long story, and I've started a new job. Result is we can't make our payments. I've been in touch with CCCS and initially they suggested a DRO, I didn't want to do this as I feel we should pay for the things we've bought and the lifestyle we've been living. So with a bit of budget tightening, we're going on to a DMP. I'm expecting the details in the next few days and in the meantime have sent token payments to creditors which need paying while this is being set up. I am hoping that OH will get a job and we'll be able to increase the repayments. We have something like £13,000 of debt between us and £510 rent arrears. Up until yesterday everyone has been paid up to date and I decided we should tackle this head and and start dealing with it now. I'm currently waiting for a decision on HB/CTB, however this could take some time due to the fact that I've changed jobs, get paid fortnightly and need to provide them with at least 3 wage slips before they can make a proper decision. I've sent one in yesterday and made our landlord aware of the situation.

Anyway, I just thought I'd introduce myself (again) and look forward to all the support you guys give as we tackle this finally.
  • Hi Evanesco, and welcome back in to the club!

We had no missed payments either, when we started our route down the DMP trail, and honestly, so many of our creditors jumped on board straight away. I was really glad (in a way) that it showed we were serious and flying the white flag as soon as we knew the game was up. (There's only so much interest you can pay back...). You sound really committed to this at this stage, so be as positive as your posts, and as everyone on here knows, you won't look back.
This week last year we were on a holiday that I knew we couldn't afford, miserable with a cold, and wondering what bills were waiting on the mat when we got home. No More!

O dear Scouselad - all these problems and a short-sighted football team who all have two left feet and no sense of direction! :o
A travesty to those of us old enough to remember 1966 :T (and before Ian starts I was only a child!) How I wish I could get paid just one week of their wages :D
Hope they find your 'missing payments' soon and you get sorted.

Hey, Miss Twitty, congratulations on becoming a Stalwart! (Don't go there, Ian!). See Missus? All the advice you give doesn't go unnoticed either, so don't you tell me off again, ha ha!
I sort of remember 1966, tho' I couldn't talk and could barely walk either, but perhaps the England team could do with our young Healy, doesn't live in a mansion and runs his legs off and scores for fun. Maybe not as N.I. only have the one player... :rotfl:

Thanks for the welcome tooth fairy. We're also waiting on a small amount of wages from our previous employer which should have been paid yesterday. I'm going to give that a week before sending a LBA.

    Hi
    Just a quick update
My DMP is going extremely well better than i expected. I now dont have any phonecalls whats so ever.....
I have just had my first review and im now in a postion to nearly double my payment. I cant believe I waited so long to sort my finances out. I now sleep well I dont worry about money anymore.
Sticking to my budget was tough at first but you soon get used to it.
My advice to anyone who is having financial difficulty is to take a deep breath pick the phone and speak to CCCS. :T

EDIT: BTW this site has been a lifesaver!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much for your encouragement, Twitty. I spend so much time worrying all the things that could happen and go wrong that I can forget to look back and see what I've achieved so far! It seems like tiny bits day by day and month by month but it's great seeing it add up and turn into progress. We'll all get there! Will keep you updated as to how I get on with the F & F's. :)

    Hi everyone!

ooh a shiny new thread :rotfl:

well here I am... one year on! (well about 14 months actually)

And I;ve paid about half of my debt off  that sounds scary!!! Some of my catalogue balances are at levels I've never actually seen them before :rotfl: Feeling quite upbeat at the moment.... to anyone who feels like they cant see any light at the end of the tunnel, it will come. I thought that when I made the first step in speaking to Kensington what seems like all that time ago... Kepe your heads up everyone and good luck.
