Hi,
I recently purchased a lovely seagrass laundry basket for the bathroom, but it has a very distinctive smell to it.
Any ideas how I can get rid of the smell or be able to dampen it down a little?
Thanks in advance.

Cannot help you just to say that I bought a seagrass chest that we used as a toybox. It had the very distinctive smell too and in the end we had to throw it away as it went all mouldy. Our old conservatory had terrible condensation and I think this caused the problem.0

The baskets are lovely, just the smell really. I have a couple of lush bath bombs and no bath so may put them near by in a bowl.0

I have a plastic tomato that you fill with bicarbonate of soda to remove odours from the fridge. Would something like that work??
Not sure where you would get one though.

I have several seagrass baskets and in general they don't smell but I did have one that smelt really strong and it just didn't fade away. I had to get rid of the basket in the end - I would suggest going back to the store and seeing whether they all smell and if you can find one that doesn't then exchange it cos the smell does not go away.
Yes I know you could end up sniffing your way along the shelf - lol - but it's the only thing I can suggest...........
Good luck!0
