Hey All, I wanted to update you after thinking about it and emailing with Nid, he has asked that we respect his wishes and just allow him with his decision.

This is probably for the best and we all know how much he has helped us over the last while and all good things have to come to an end..

    Thanks Jen,

I have just had an email from Niddy, and he has said the same thing to me.

So, I really think we do owe it to him to respect his decision!

I think this similar to what I've said in my PM to you Ann.

It was Niddy's decision to leave and it wasn't just a single troll, it was several. I think we ought to forget about petitions, getting on to Martin Lewis etc and give Niddy a bit of peace and quiet.

    Pixie,

I think this is exactly what Niddy would want from us! We owe it to him to respect his wishes!

Maybe it would help if everyone kept bumping the Unenforceability thread to page one all the time so people who need help can access the template letters when they need them? Then El Nid's work would not be in vain.

    Brilliant idea, Nargie!

Will start going on there more often myself, as well.

I think that is a far better tribute to Niddy than any campaign! His work not being in vain!

This is what Tixy had to say this afternoon on the Notice to Newcomer's Part 7 thread (post #1930)

I hope Niddy will have some time away and then come back.

I suspect that there is little we can do to either stop him going or to request that MSE change the forums so that these type of things don't happen. Trolls have too much time on their hands and will inevitably get around any new measures put in place, whilst at the same time those measures might stop new genuine and needy posters.

Its sad when someone who is a valuable member of the forums decides they have had enough and we all want to tell them to tough it out and to remember the words from the red box above

PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE FORUM

PLEASE DO NOT LET THE ACTIONS OF THE MINORITY RUIN THAT

But at the same time none of us know how bad the abuse niddy was getting was. At the end of the day sometimes the bstds do grind you down.

The MSE forum is inevitably a victim of its own success, the bigger it gets the more trolls it will attract. I think niddy was similar in a way, his was a name known on many of the different boards and had a big impact some posters lives. So he is an easy target, and what he helped people with, well there are always going to be people (and especially bank employees and DCAs!) who disagree with that which again makes him a target.

It was no problem finding it. I know that Niddy posted on that thread so I just thought I'd have a look to see what they said.
