MSE News: Next claims £1 Poundland tights were originally stolen

Even the Next representative said that there was no way Poundland could have known they were stolen... so would seem a bit harsh if they did.0

1) Prior to the deal going in the email, we just spoke to poundland as the stock is in their shops.
2) Prior to publishing this news story (that hasnt been in the email), we have been in full contact with both and their quotes are in the storyFormer MSE team member0 -
When MSE featured Boots products in Poundland, did you speak to Boots before publishing?
Might be an idea in future?0 -
So are Poundland offering those customers who bought the alleged stolen goods a full refund?
The customer may have purchased the goods in good faith, but if they are in fact stolen, would be handling stolen goods. They may not be charged, but if identified could have the stolen goods seized so that they could be returned to the rightful owner (which may be an insurance company)
Poundland obviously can't say for sure that the goods are not stolen as otherwise they wouldn't have removed them from sale, so a full refund seems the appropriate thing to offer in the circumstances.
(Presumably these goods have not entered the market after any insurance had paid out for them, were recovered to the insurance company who then sold them to partially off-set their loss)"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
:D
Next weeks Real Life Money Moral Dilemma.
Cynthia bought some bargain tights from Poundland after being tipped off by MSE that they were originaly Next stock that sold for £7.
She bought 10 pairs.... bargain!:j
She's since learnt there is a high possibility they were stolen:eek:. She still has 8 packets not opened, should she return them for a refund so they can be returned to the rightful owner?
Or take the labels off and return them to Boots for a refund?:D:D:Djust to emphasise I don't really mean it.0 -
Makes me laugh when they say "trusted supplier" I know exactly who they came from as they were being boxed up at his place for Poundland while I was there, and nobody who knows him trusts him, most of the stuff he sells is meant to be destroyed for one reason or another, they've only themselves to blame if they do get in trouble as they would have known what they were dealing with buying from him, and frankly I hope they do.Did you know you can get Viagra software now??? Yeah, it turns your floppy drive into a hard drive0

I thought it was Arthur Daley.0 -
I would like to to know the end result of this story as to whether they were actually stolen or is it case of Next being embarassed that the same tights could be brought at a low price in Poundland .
Perhaps they were tights really destined for Poundland which were mispackaged into Next Boxes by mistake and the supplier rather than repack thought it easier to put a sticker on..0 -
I thought Poundland purchased some stock that was either destined for other countries (hence why some brand names have all foreign writing on them and not English) or were surplus stock that other stores wanted to get shut of.
The whole stolen goods story from Next could just be a smokescreen (or a good excuse) to protect their brand so customers don't think they are being ripped off by paying full price in Next stores.0
