  • The Mail on Sunday has a Free Bottle of wine for every reader: On page 77 there is a bar coded voucher to receive a FREE bottle of Jacob's Creek Chardonnay worth £6.99 when you buy a bottle of Jacob's Creek Shiraz (I guess this could be scanned on a self-scan). Not a bad deal if you consider the newspaper only costs 1.30......

Also on same page there are 2 for 1 health spa breaks including a treatment and an exclusive gift i.e. dinner, lunch and a Champneys T-Shirt, goody bag, glass of champagne, shape and polish (fingers & toes) + lots more depending on which spa you book. These packages feature overnight accommodation (most inc. breakfast). The prices start from £135 for 2 people!!! All you need to do is visit https://www.spaweek.co.uk to find a spa in your area.

I will be checking it out right now!!!

    Hope this is useful.:T

    Thanks Welshy and Pattybarndance!

Patty, could you tell us if the Jacob's Creek coupon has a store logo on it, or does it look non-specific as far as which supermarket you can use it in?

Also what expiry date is on the coupon please?

    Thanks!

  • Just thinking and I do not have the paper but it may only work if the other bottle of wine is bought which is priced at £5.49, then it is not moneysaving but a bogof deal. Which is a great deal if you buy wine anyway.

I hope I am proved wrong and it does scan through the till ok without buying the wine, in which case I will be off out and getting some copies.

  • Good questions coupon mad - I got so excited that I forgot to put vital information - thanks for asking!!!

The coupon shows Threshers, Wine Rack, Victoria Wine, Bottoms Up and The Local store - any part of the Thresher Store Group: https://www.threshergroup.com will give a wider list.

If anyone remembers the £8.00 wine coupon that appeared in the Sainsbury magazine last year - it worked at Tescos self-scan without actually having to buy the wine. However, it seems that certain supermarkets are randomly clamping down on vouchers/coupons lately.

The expiry date is Sunday 3SEP06 - so not too long to take advantage!!
  • Wine isn't often on BOGOF, so this could work out at an OK deal, especially if they have some other offer on at Thresher. Even better if it does scan at Tesco though!

If this voucher is for use in Threshers etc then why try to use it in Tescos ?
If they end up with a load of vouchers that they can't redeem they will surely clamp down on voucher use thereby effecting us all.

No, although Tesco, Asda and Waitrose do (I'm sure) end up with a percentage of coupons they can't redeem, that is outweighed by the massive extra custom they get by having a (fairly) open coupon policy.

A couple of months ago an Asda employee confirmed on a thread here that her store was currently running at over 95% coupon validity - showing that Asda monitors each branch on coupon-use and will retrain any staff members if necessary. At my lovely local Asda (Brighton Marina) this week they took all my coupons (no maximum, but they were all genuine ones not from other stores) and wrote the till number on each one. Therefore they can check if there are any recurring problems.

People have been using coupons for years (I only started this year) and the Supermarkets have not stopped accepting them. There are occasional coupon 'clamp-downs' usually at certain stores, but then the policy relaxes again.

  • I was talking to a cashier at my local store although she was willing to accept any money off vouchers, she refused my quick read vouchers, as someone else had been using alot in this store and she was disclipined, given a written warning for accepting them at her till and told if she took these vouchers again she could lose her job.

Reading the comments above, and typing out loud, I was thinking if one of us went to my local store, gave the voucher to this woman who maybe didn't notice it wasn't for Tescos the consequences for her could be she loses her job. I will use vouchers that are non-specific for any store BUT I will not use ones which are clearly not for Tescos. Just my personal opinion and not a criticism of anyone on here.
