Help! Joint Mortgage with Ex partner who refuses to pay!

I hope that somebody can give me some advice.
I have a joint mortgage with an ex-partner. We split up over 2 years ago. Even though the mortgage is in both our names, the mortgage payment and extras (life insurance, buildings insurance, etc) has always come out of my bank account by direct debit.
The house was put on the market very quickly but unfortunately it coincided with the massive slump in housing market. My house is in Northern Ireland which was hit even harder I think. My ex-partner was not very co-operative in paying his share of the mortgage once we split, but thankfully his dad helped out with payments.
I cannot afford to buy my ex-partner out of the house, nor can he afford to buy it from me.
After 6 months of house on the market, I managed to rent it out and move back to England.
My ex-partner has now put the house on the market again in Northern Ireland but at a price too high. My tenant has consequently given his notice to move out. Therefore I will be faced with paying mortgage payments on my own until it is sold which I cannot afford.
The problem is, I cannot pursuade my ex-partner to bring down the asking price for a quick sale - even though the estate agent has told me it is overpriced. My ex-partner hopes to make a profit. Also, I know that I will not be able to get him to pay his share of mortgage once tenant moves out.
I don't know what to do. I can only think that ultimately I will have to miss my mortgage payments and get house repossessed and be in debt. I am stuck.
Thanks!

Consult a solicitor as soon as possible. As a property sale can be forced by one party.0
