This is what I think too. My pasta machine just sits in my cupboard and I keep thinking I'll get it out again but never do!0 -
I bought one at a charity shop. I used it, I found it time consuming and fiddly. The pasta was good, and I picked up some methods by trial and a fair bit of frustrating error, but in the long run, decided it was to labour intensive and gave it back to the charity shop. I certainly didn't find it money saving, and could buy gourmet pasta and still be in pocket.

We used to have one but the ex oh took it with him. Not particularly cheap to make but quite good fun if you are in the mood a bit like an ice cream maker.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

I bought mine on a car boot for £3 (never used by previous owner). We love the pasta it makes and OH is the one in charge
We make our own pasta because 1) it tastes better and 2) we know exactly what goes into it. We make a batch of dough (3 egg version) and split into three (one for the meal, one batch for the fridge and one for the freezer) so that we have some dough ready for other meals.
OH loves the machine (it appeals to the engineer in him) and he cleans it down thoroughly every time.
The trick is to get OH to be the 'master baker' - he took over the panasonic BM when we got it, loves the pasta machine and yesterday I got a brand new unused Kenwood Ice Cream maker from the car boot for £3 (I love people who get things and never take them out of the box) and he is already going through the recipes (he adores ice cream). I do the jams, preserves, meal cooking, slow cooker work etc.
I'd agree it's not moneysaving as such - but it does give you restaurant quality good pasta at HM scratch made prices. We worked out that 'our pasta' costs around 40p for a meal for two people (00 flour and one free range egg). We don't have a huge plate of pasta as we are both dieting so other people may double this.Enjoying an MSE OS life0 -

Hurrah, I just got a pasta maker on Freecycle! :j Will be collecting it on Wednesday (hopefully) so if there are no instructions, I'll be back here.

I hope you have fun with it! If you need any recipes just ask!0

Just to say that you don't have to make egg-pasta if you make your own. You can simply use flour & water, which is the same as shop bought dried pasta.
You can also make spinach pasta (green ) or tomato pasta - or black pasta, if you can get squid inkWarning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
Pardon?......Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
