Starting salary for ATC is circa £18k per year without exception. Takes approx 12-15 years to reach the top of the scale (circa £30k) if I remember rightly.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

Really? Mmm, maybe my memory is playing tricks on me.
Oh yes, I was looking at one based in Europe. Where was it? I tried to find it online but can't remember all the details. But, if I remember correctly, it started aroun 20k ish and rose to 30k ish after 2 years.
Also, according to Plymouth city website starting salary at college is 10k and highest salary is now 80k, but that's top of the top.
Best bet will still be RAF I'm sure.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -

Seems like a pretty good deal to me. Lots of training, support, benefits and holiday!
Now I remember why I looked at the one in Europe. I think it was based either in France or Belgium. Belgium I think. The company was called Euro...something. Ohhh, found it. You have to be under 25 to join the programme.

The wages for Air Traffic Control are a lot more than stated. There is no age limit as such. I joined at 28. Start pay at the college is £10k, but thats better than pilots training where you have to pay. Depending on unit you get posted, if you qualify out of the college(9-12 months), and validate at unit, you will go bottom of the scale and after 3 years from joining company will be on roughly £50000 which includes shift pay(£5000), and that goes up yearly for 13 years, where it tops out at about £88000. It roughly equates to 8% pay rise a year. Overtime is £550 per day, but you are taxed 40% on that, and can do maximum of 21 days overtime a year, although depending on unit, can be hard to get 21 days in. look at PPrune.org, atc section. There are lots of posts on there from ATC wannabees. Also a lot of controllers are also pilots.
Dont worry about my signature below. I did get into quite a bit of debt when I was at the college, lost half my previous income, my wife lost her income. Owned at house at college whilst I rented. The tennant of my house did a runner. Car broke whilst there. I have also spent a fair bit on luxurys since validating. My income now though is £65k and I will be hopefully debt free in 20 months, and my wife also has an income now.Debt free. March 2020
Mortgage free-August 2021
Planned retirement date- 19/5/2026
£29500 saved. Target £420000(19/05/2026)0
