I went to one of these sales last year which was held at Rockingham speedway circuit. We got there at about 10.30am and had to queue for over an hour and a half to get in! I would definitely plan to get there early if I went again. There were a lot of great bargains to be had - polo shirts at £8, dresses at £8, pyjama sets at £10. Loads of shoes and wellies at greatly reduced prices. There were also cardboard boxes full of various items such as scarves, bandanas, bikini bottoms, hats and such like which were all £1 each.

I'd definitely reccommend going - I went to Rockingham last year and got three pairs of gorgeous cords for a tenner (and some other stuff too but the trousers were the most bargainous by far!). I would have got another three pairs if they had any more left in my size or colours I liked - they were still selling them in the colours I bought (brown, black and purple) on their website for £45 each - so the hour and a half wait was definitely worth it for £135 worth of trousers for £10!
  • Went to a special invite only preview of the Joules sale today at Newbury Racecourse (it's on until 8pm if you live nearby!). I got sent a flyer, presumably because I'm on their mailing list. Anyway, it was brilliant! Really good bargains to be had, friendly atomsphere and loads of stock. Here are some examples:

All children's clothing - £10 for one item or £20 for three items (this includes the padded gilets and coats).

Children's accessories - £3 (for example, fluffy welly socks or baseball caps)

    Women's dresses - £15 for one or £30 for 3

Women's tweed jackets - £40 (no multi buy deal)

Women's leather handbags - £25 (usually about £125 in the shops)

Joules wellies - £10 per pair (usually £35 in the shops)

There was loads of men's stuff too but I didn't really look at that cos hubby isn't into Joules! The only thing that seemed to be missing was women's swimwear but presumably this is because it is last seasons A/W stock.

    Top tips
There are some bargain bins at the rear of the room which have items for £5 (adults and children's). Sizes are limited but worth a rummage.

Also, there are boxes of stock under the tables so worth asking a member of staff if you can't find your size and they will help you.

There is a changing room but it's not for shy people - it's a case of whipping your clothes off in front of others and sharing one measly mirror!

If you are stocking up on Xmas/birthday presents for other people's children (like I did), take a list of their ages with you so that you don't get flustered and buy a size 7 years instead of 8 or whatever!

There was a queue of only 15 or so people when I arrived at the start but from what the staff were saying, tomorrow and Sunday will be a different ball game. Good luck and hope you all grab a bargain!

I was wanting to go to the Newbury sale tomorrow. To anyone whose been today, is it worth it? How long did you have to queue for?
    Thanks
  • A friend of mine went today - not sure how long she queued for but she said that they were letting people in a group at a time. She managed to get 4 tops for £10!
  • Went today with DD (not a good idea ....I spent far too much on her:rotfl:). Arrived just after lunch with no queue or frenzied grab, just leisurely stroll to gather absolutely loads. Then they announced further reductions in legwear and fluffy hoodies, so I stocked up on birthday/christmas presents as well!

They even have a small cafe open down by the tills. Very useful as I sat there and checked through all our items to make sure we had right sizes and quantities (as there are good offers if you buy 3 of anything), before going to checkout.

Afternoon visit did mean there were less mediums in mens and sizes 12 + 14 for ladies were available if we hunted.

Thong-style shoes were 3 for £10. Not my ideal colours but hey, great and comfy for the garden!:j
  • Hi, does anyone know when the online summer Joules sale starts?

I went to a sale last year but it wasn't very good (mainly stuff that hadn't shifted at the bigger Newbury/Newmarket sales).
