in Cutting tax
Hi everyone
I hope someone can help with my query. I recently started a new job in May and previous to that I claimed Jobseekers Allowance from February. On the P46 form I signed for the new job I ticked box 'B' stating "This is now my only Job, but since last 6th April I had another job, or have received taxable jobseekers Allowance or Incapacity Benefit...." As this was the correct box to tick as I have claimed Jobseeker's Allowance my Tax code is 647L. What I don't understand is the amount of Tax I pay. I get paid on a weekly basis at Gross £365.38 which equates to £19000.00 per Anum. I currently pay £48.17 per week, it seems quite a lot. Am I missing something?

Go here, enter £19000 and it tells you.0 -
it work approximately like this
tax free allowance 6475 per annum or 124 per week
NI allowance 110 per week
so gross per week = 365
tax is 20% of (365 - 124) = 20% of 241 i.e. £48
NI is 11% of 365-110 i.e. 11% of 255 i.e. £280
