I'm looking into moving house and my FA said that I could get a better rate if my credit report was "class A", loads of 0's meaning no late payments.
I got my report from Experian this morning and I had an account with LaRedoute over 4 years ago and they were terrible, I never got bills etc. and was late paying. In the end I paid it off in full and closed my account. This is now showing as a "3 1 1 0 U" on my credit report.
Is there anyway of getting this changed? It's the difference between a "not feeding the kids" mortgage and a "comfortable" mortgage.
The rest is all spanking 0's - but it *all* needs to be 0's for the better rate.
Thanks

you would need to write to the firm concerned and explain that the payments were late because statements were not received, however they may reply that you should have been aware that money was still owed and contacted them direct to pay wthout waiting to see if the statement came first. The company i work for give customers two chances where we will adjust the account if a statement hasn't been received but its not a legal obligation to send monthly statements, as long as statements are sent periodically. After the first two chances we say that they know mponey is owed, especially if they have carried on spending and should be contacting us and taking matters up with their local royal mail delivery office especially when we can see statements have been sent.
If they won't change the details, as accounts are shown on credit files for six years from date of settlement, you can always pur a Notice of Correction on your file for that account explaining the late payments. Further advice on doing this should have been enclosed with your copy credit file.
Hope this is of some help.0
