Hand washing a lambswool cashmere jacket?

I have just got home with a lovely charity shop find, a vintage beige super soft jacket for £2.00.
It looks and smells clean but I like to wash charity shop items before wearing them.
It is french and is lined, the lable says not to wash, dry clean only (P in a circle?) 50 % lambswool 40% silk 10% cashmere.
I hate getting things dry cleaned, all those nasty chemicals! any old style alternatives or advice please?

I put things like that folded up in a pillowcase and tie a knot, then shove in washing machine on a quick cool wash. Shake really well after and maybe tumble dry on cool or on line depending on what it looks like.0

I suspect a child local to sunsetgirl may have a very well dressed teddy bear if she tries this. I wouldn't have thought it would be washable.
Perhaps Febreeze and hang on the line on a hanger to air instead?

I was scared that it might 'felt' and shrink beyond all recognition!
It does not apear at all dirty but I am a bit fussy maybe I should use the trusty old febreese!0 -
I wouldn't even think of washing it, and wouldn't risk anything other than fresh air.
It sounds like a real find!0 -

I totally agree with Marsie and wonder whether once it is dirty it would be worth getting it dry cleaned in a bulk load.It obviously is special and although you dont like`chemicals`,on this occasion it warrants it. It would be a shame to lose it !0
