lightbulb moment!

I have had my head in the sand for too long... I have had bills returned unpaid for a little while now and only talking to creditors if they themselves phone. There are days when I cannot afford to go shopping. I wake up at night thinking about it. And yet at I am typing this out on my Apple G5. I have just had my morning cuppa scanning through all my sky channels and checking out recordings on my skyplus.Last week I agreed to go on a family reunion holiday to Tenerife for £220 (self catering, so it will be more) which my retired dad is fronting for me.
ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:money: LIGHTBULB MOMENT!:money:
Today I am going to ring sky and find out when I am allowed to dump them totally. My daughter will be really upset at this as all she watches is Yu Gio and Teen Titans, but I figure it would be cheaper to buy the DVD's for her. I will cry over the loss of skyplus but needs must. I shall call all creditors and be honest about my situation. Barclaycard have already let me just pay £35 a month for three months until I am more sorted. The holiday is booked so I will just have to find another source of income to cover it.
I refuse to be in this situation anymore. I am going to push myself to earn more (I am mostly self employed) and in 2 years time will look to clearing my mortgage (ok, it's a high ambition)
I am going to be on these boards alot as I shall need it to keep going, so here goes guys ...you'll be hearing from me!

feel guilty for people saying 'well done'' as it is only stupidity that got me here in the first place. Having said that, my IQ has been measured at 128, not too horendous...so what is it that makes us do what we do?"grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the courage to change the one I can and the wisdom to know it's me"

Well done , and just think re: loss of Sky+ - you can get freeview recorders pretty cheap and the price is dropping all the time so when you are getting there, you can treat yourself and it'll only be a one off paymentNo longer using this account for new posts from 20130
