£1350 loan
Options
Basically I am a first year student and I need to borrow £1350 to pay my first accommodation payment. I only need the money for less than 2 months. I am a complete novice at this I have had a look around the website but i'm still pretty clueless. Any advice with this would be much appreciated.
Many Thanks

No student loans or family can help on this ?
Borrowing £1350 from a commercial source before you even get to uni isnt a great idea to be honest !!
At least you may get interest free from student loans or family.0 -

I assume its not a course in financial planning?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
You're not going to get a decent loan for that amount or for that short period of time.
Your only options are:
1. to ask bank of Mum and Dad to lend you the money for 8 weeks (preferred option)
2. There is no 2. You've left it too late to apply for a credit card to finance a balance transfer - these take up to six weeks.
Ask someone to lend it to you - draw up an agreement if it makes them feel better - and pay it back to them ASAP."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Is this because of the delays by the student loans company in issuing your money? If so, there may be a number 2 option. If you present the evidence to the University finance department, they may be willing to delay the accommodation fees payment until you receive your money. My daughter's money was delayed last year, and they just asked us to sign a direct debit starting in two months time that they would only implement if it wasn't paid in full when the student loan money finally arrived.
If, however, you've already received your student loan, I would have to ask how what you've spent it on and how you plan to pay the money back - and I doubt the Uni would be as understanding.0 -
Is it university-linked accomodation or are you privately renting? It would be worth speaking to your uni anyway, because in certain circumstances they will give short term loans if your lack of finance is going to prevent you from doing your degree (which it may do if you have no accommodation!)0

It's private accomodation and it's largely because i'm bad at managing my money & having to pay for a new computer ect.
Thanks for the advice
I might have a word with the uni finance help centre0 -
What's wrong with university computers?0
