By referrals do you mean to other medical professionals? Or what help you may get at college?
If you haven't already, it may be worth asking your GP to refer you to a pain specialist to help you manage your pain.
In terms of college you need to make an appointment with their learning support advisor to see what help is available as colleges and 6th forms have to make reasonable adjustments for you. And also, what evidence they need, in my experience this is just a letter from your doctor to state what conditions you have and how it affects you though the college may have their own form for the doctor to fill in. For information on what classes as reasonable adjustment and what may be available can be found on the Direct.gov.uk website here
Have you looked at the Hypermobility Syndrome Association to see what suggestions they have to help you live with your condition?0 -
i have been supported at college before so know about the support from them

its more the medical side of of some one that has these conditions i was after iam a bit fed up been really sore with all my joints and its wiped me out really badly the past week , and consultants they have seen to help with there conditions which could be relavent to myslef x0 -
I haven't experience any of your conditions myself but I'd definitely recommend seeing a pain specialist. I've seen one in the past for other issues and found them useful. They know a lot about controlling pain and living with it, especially pain which isn't easily treated with traditional pain relief drugs.0

well docs didnt go great bit hacked off in truth shes normally a really good doc, was more intrested in my mental health as i had phoned the crisis team few weeks ago , she did the referal not without a fight, and said the hypermoblity would get better as i age why iam i not convinced when i have read differnetly she didnt even look up the offical hypermoblity site
diclaphenic and codiene was given, but 5 mins walking slow i was in pain so think it will have to be alot stronger, i had to do a shop around asda i really wish i hadnt bothered iam aching all over and took me 4 hours to get around the shop taxi driver was a angel and put shoping in flat where it stays till the morning, is there any over the counter pain reflif that might help iam sick as i chip x
oh i forget she refused to refer me to any1 else said wasnt her job0 -
Hypermobility gets better with age? That's boll locks.
If you're already taking diclofenac, you can't take neurofen or aspirin. If you're taking co codamol, then no codeine or paracetamol. You're stacked up on the pain relief and any alterations would be potentially fatal. All you can do is follow the prescription instructions TO THE LETTER and make another appointment with the doctor after you've had a week or two to see whether the pain relief builds up with time.
SO DO NOT TAKE ANY UNPRESCRIBED MEDICATION.
And I'd change doctors.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

what annoyed me is shes normally a great doctor she will go out of her way to see me even if shes busy i had problems with my ears as ever had a apintment within 4 days she rang them with me there, i offered to print out info for her she was that not needed need to do it anyways, she just thought it was plain double jointed like most people do , as for changing doctors i have been there since i was born she only part time doc anyways and iam desprate to get a blue badge to help me for a free bus pass which would be great as it costs 4 quid for the bus to the gym more than the session itself we will see how it goes she might change her mind after this report of the muskalskeletol knees were only bad before now its sholders, left hand both writs ankels and hips and referals are supposted to be done by other consultats really after they have made dignosis,
oh and 1 more thing i was recomended physio, all sessions are booked up and there noth taking anymore, why because there moving grrr0 -

Blue badges dont qualify you for a bus pass, it normally works the other way round but diffrent areas have diffrent rules, in Merseyside the medical is extremly strict and even people with HRMC have to have one.
Dont mess with your drugs unless you know what your doing, get a referral to a pain managment specialist for help with all aspects of pain relief, if its unbearable ask your GP to push it through quickly for you or ask her for morphine, that normally shifts reluctant GPs because they are scared of it.:rotfl:
If you havnt had the official test for HMS you dont have it and no matter how much information you read on the web or offer your GP wont change that, concentrate on getting the diagnosis and then getting treatment for it. Dont have physio until you get the diagnosis, it can cause you more damage if you have ordinary physio.
HMS can improve with age, your ligamants and joints tighten with age but if you already have damage it gets worse, she wasnt lieing, she believed the hype (probably) because she hadnt met someone who can been there knees backwards etc.0 -
