In with my payslip this month is an invitation to join Costco. Any members out there who can tell me what sort of prices I might find there and whether it is worth joining?

Do a search for Costco on these boards, there are plenty of opinions already offered. In a nutshell,
They are cheap for some goods, but not everything, so you need to be price aware when shopping there
The quality of their own brand, Kirkland, is generally excellent
Their customer service is second to none with commonplace tales of items being returned years after purchase for a full refund
Their cafe is incredibly cheap
The stand out bargain is tyres, no where can touch them for Michelin tyres and one tyre a year would more than pay for your membership
If you take a membership out and are unhappy at any time they will refund you in full
And yes, I am a fan of Costco.0 -
By the way, how much is membership for costco? I wanted to go, but heard you need a membership!0

I think it is about £30 a year0

It's a little over £30 to join (renewable yearly), but you do get two cards, so if you know anyone else who wants to join you can split the cost. You can then get additional cards for around £13, if other members of your family or friends want to join.
Incidentally, when my sister took out an extra card on our membership (paying the extra) we were sent a £10 Costco voucher for signing her up. Not sure if this is standard practice or a one off though.0 -
I am told you can register for a day pass so you can decide if you want to join.0

Can anyone tell me what is different between Costco and Makro please!
Cheers! Jake0 -

They will give you a pass to go in and check the place out, but if you want to make any purchases you have to join first. They can sign you up immediately, you need a payslip or some evidence that you work for one of the accepted companies, plus a Utility bill with your current address. They photograph you and issue your card straight away and you can then go back in and spend your money. I love it, it's grea for bulk buys of stuff like Laundry powder, sugar, T bags, etc. The meat and bakery products are excellent quality - the steaks are to die for! :Thollydays wrote:I am told you can register for a day pass so you can decide if you want to join.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0 -
