Are my maths right?

Sorry, was away for a few days, pleased to see the thread has developed.
As for my own plans, some investments are doing better than the mortgage rate, others are not. So I'll probably give up on the bad ones & keep teh others going. The recent recover in stocks & shares makes them look pretty good over the last 12 months, well very good really. But you only have to go back a few years to realise that it would have been better to keep the cash in the bank. Ho hum, you takes your chances I guess.
It's most tempting to use all the cash to pay off one lump sum so that monthly mortgage drops by £700; even if keeping the money invested may prove more lucrative. I'll have to um & ah about that for a bit more, I guess it comes down to whether we want to take the risk,..... or not.
As for offset mortgages, I've never bothered. The mortgage interest rates aren't the best & I find it's better to take a discount mortgage (changing as they expire) + stick the cash in a high savings account. Works for us as the lady of the house isn't employed, so we don't have to worry about the tax. Hence, isn't always suitable for everyone. It's just a case of doing the maths, but I suggest you don't ask me for advice on that !
charcolonline.co.uk hs a most useful mortage tool, I've used it for a few years & saved, literally, 1000s
