Out of date baking powder, safe to use??

As title says, is it okay to use baking powder past its use by?! The date is Oct 08!!!! It's been stored properly (in the back of the cupboard!) with the lid on etc. I only need half a teaspoon so don't want to go buy a new one just for that!

Thanks in advance!

does it look ok? hasnt got any crawly things? It may have lost a little potency so drop a little in some warm water and see if it fizzes a bit. if it does it should be ok. If not then it may not work as a raising agent.
What recipe is it for? there may be a substitute which would work. eg, if its a cake then perhaps another egg would be sufficient.

Well it's never stopped me and everyone I fed the results to seems to have lived- meh, it'll be fine. :D
