ok, just wanted to tell you all how ive repaid my debt! (hope this is the right place)
i got into alot of debt back in 2004, and realised there was a problem in august 2004 (just over £19000 in a personal loan and £2000 on a credit card (limit £1800) )
i was in a relationship with someone who just spent and spent, and i found myself doing the same, i tried to talk to her, but everytime she'd go out and spend to make herself feel good (looks like im blaming her, but im not), so we split.
stupidly the loan was im my name, although it benefitted her quite a bit, so was left with the repayments (£348 p/m with a&l, wouldnt use again as never replied to letters or phone calls when i was struggling to make repayments, and defaulted 4 times).
i was earning £12000 p/a at the time, so saved every penny i could, sold all the junk i didnt need, and took another loan for just £9000, and repaid the loan and cc and used all my savings.
now comfortably paying back just £275 over 3 years and got a much better job, now earning £19000, with company van so sold own car, and just purchasing a house.
have been looking at other posts and heard martin on radio 2 yesterday about having savings accounts for xmas, birthdays etc, and have decided to save all extra money at end of month to repay debt early, including mortgage!
debt free in 2 years, mortgage in 23!
also, having a company car, try to fill up at tesco all the time, and have just received £35 in club card vouchers!
