Clinique

Do the anti redness products by Clinique help if you have Rosacea? thinking about buying the cleanser and moisturuser.

I have only tried the powder, to see if it would help cover up some of the redness I have on my cheeks, and all I can say was it was a complete waste of money and a very expensive mistake! Cannot say, despite my limited experience, that I would recommend this range to anyone.

Something I have found that works is the new Lancome mineral foundation - that has made a real difference to my skin, both while on, and now, even when I am not wearing it (have a more even skin tone than I used to). They try and sell it with some ridiculous vibrating applicator (or at least they did when I was in the USA), which is uneccessary, but the effects, for me at least, have been very good - and I have tried a lot of products. lol.

Hi Pixie......having suffered with what I self diagnosed to be rosacea for a few years, I finally visited my GP and he took one look and confirmed it (it had got worse and my skin was becoming very bumpy and flaky) He prescribed me Rozex (metronidazole) and I started to use this.

I have always used Clinique and I have now got the cleanser/moisturiser in the anti redness range and the City Block 40 spf. My face is much better and the redness has calmed, I don't use the Rozex every day, just a couple of times a week, but use my Clinique daily.

I also joined a Rosacea forum although most posters are in US, Clinique does seem to be well regarded.

Go and have a chat with someone on a beauty counter and they will usually let you a small sample to try.

Also try your GP as possibly medication might help.

My next purchase will be the green make up base in the same range.

I wouldn't bother with the green make up base Whatawit. i've used it aswell as the boots no.7 one and I wasn't impressed, followed the application guide as advised by the counter assistant and I constantly was concerned and felt like there was a green tinge to my skin after applying foundation. If your skins in good condition apart from the rosacea I'd recommend using Bare Escentuals mineral foundation.it's the only one that has covered mine up without looking like I've over done it trying to cover up.

Sorry if I went a bit off topic there!

I have not got Rosacea but I would not have thought this product would work.

I think it is supposed to work on skin defects caused by the sun, stuff that is basicly only within the layers of the skin though I have my own thoughts on that: the BBC Watchdog did a show on skin lightening treatments mainly used on Asian skin trying to get it paler. It showed that the legal versions did little if anything and the illegal ones caused things like Acne! I doubt this is any better then doing nothing at all, but then again I have not used it and have no hands on experience to share.

With Rosacea I have always assumed it to do with broken capilaries under the skin which cause the redness rather then being the skin itself, its beneath the skin. Correct me if I am wrong, if it is this though I doubt a cream lightening treatment would be what works for you as it would only work within the few layers of the skin and not beneath it. If I have this wrong please correct me, its just my own logic!
