Which Bank is Independent?
Indirestraits
Am in the process of compiling my SOA. Thought I had done the right thing in opening a new current account with Lloyds (due to me having £9,000 overdraft in Barclays) but after reading some of the posts now realise that it's possibly not the best bank for me as one of my huge credit card debts is with Halifax which I now know are linked to Lloyds. Should I now open another new current account and which bank can I open one with that's not linked to my numerous credit cards and loans?
I am also worried about having a DMP as I read that eventually you can lose your house if it goes on too long?
Sorry - so new to all this but need to get everything in place before calling debt management helpline.

Regarding you DMP - you need to set it up with one of the charities here - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2077631, other places will charge you a fee. The charity will also explain the rules and possible implications of being on a DMP - it would be exceptionally unlikely that you could lose your house under a DMP (very very exceptional).
As to which bank is independent it does depend on who your debts are with - what about either co-op or nationwide?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
I would go with the ones that Tixy has just said - Co-op and Nationwide - they are the regular ones that we advise our clients to use.I am a debt counsellor working in the voluntary sector - we don't charge our clients for the work we do!0

Co-Op I know for sure are independant and ethical- which is nice."I, on the other hand, am a fully rounded human being with a degree from the university of life, a diploma from the school of hard knocks, and three gold stars from the kindergarten of getting the sh*t kicked out of me." ~ Capt.
