Free / Cheap Parking near SECC

I am going to the X-Factor (audience member) on Weds and need to know where I can park for free or relatively cheap. I'll be there for 5 or 6 hours!!

If anyone could help I'd greatly appreciate it :D

A side street off Argyle Street between there & Sauchiehall Street, but not very safe.
Maybe better to park & ride at a subway station.

We always park in the science centre & walk across the bridge. Its a flat fee - I think £2.50 or £3

Park and ride at Subway won't help- there is not a subway station for ages around the SECC- the nearest is Cessnock- a good 20 minutes away.

Finnieston is zoned parking (never park outside of bays) and you need to be careful around Argyll and Sauchiehall street since the western extension of the parking zones- probably away by the time you're getting there but check.

Personally- take PT or park on the roads around the Science Centre and Govan and walk over the Bells Bridge. Popular so fills up quick.

having been a long term resident of G51 i would only recommend this if you want your car robbed.

Govan Road is full of smashed window glass after a concert at the secc.

Safer to park in the science centre car park.

Yeah it is desolate, and full of BBC workers anyway. The police put no waiting cones down occasionally too.

So many people make themselves a victim mind you last time I was down that way you walked past cars with CDs over the place, sat nav and phone holders on the windscreen!

Science Centre is slightly safer, but taking PT is best IMV. Saying that I've parked in dodgy areas all the time for football matches with little problems- more what people leave in motors to be robbed! Prefer to park beside the flats than the BBC as it is again safer.

Aye, takes about 6 hours to get out too. :rotfl: I'd never park at the SECC for this reason alone- takes to long to get out. I had parking passes when a relative organised an event. We'd seen everyone out, packed up, said goodbyes etc, got in the car and left the organisers bit and passed audience still queuing to get out.
