Remember that analogue TV is being turned off within the next few years so if you buy a DVD recorder without digital (Freeview) you will need to get a set top box and this will have to be programmed separately to the recorder (without the assistance of Videoplus).

If you can already get Freeview you might want to consider a PVR which is a Freeview receiver which records onto a hard drive (as in a computer). More info on these here

If you can't yet get Freeview I would hang on if you can.

No I don't think Videoplus works with Freeview. On my Freeview DVD recorder you select the programmes you want to record via the EPG.

Another thing about a PVR is that you can record many hours (depending on the size of the hard disk) rarher than an hour or two on a DVD. Handy if you're going away on holiday.What you can't do is record something and lend it to someone else to watch and you can't keep recordings forever or you will run out of space.

Ideally I would like a Freeview PVR with DVD recorder built in but I don't think anyone makes one (at a reasonable price, anyway)
