95 % Mortgages?? Where r they!?

Hi, new to this forum, please can anyone advise where I could get 95 % mortgage. I am looking to buy a 150k house, I have 15k in savings and earn 48k. Trouble is I need to keep some of my savings to improve the house, pay fees etc. The mortgage advisor has suggested Halifax because the vendor is willing to chip 5% as a part vendor gifted deposit, but I would like a bit more choice?!!! any advice (I am not a first time buyer). Am I better going to an advisor or going direct? who can get better deals? Thanks in advance.

  • I believe there is only one available from Skipton. It's a two year deal at 7.12%! Reverting to an SVR of base rate + 4.99%! Not even woth considering if you ask me.

Best advice would be to keep saving, the good rates are only available to 20%+ deposits.

You could give Yorkshire Bank, Clydesdale Bank or Nottingham Building Society a call.

Personally I think there's a lot to be said for patience and more saving though.
