It's amazing how much we're prepared to pay in the absence of comparable prices. It's not until you've been to thailand (or somewhere) and have seen CDs on sale for about 20p you realise how much we're getting ripped off.

Did you know that all trainers cost more or less the same to make? Even these fancy sole units only add about 50p to the cost. Nikes cost less than £4.50 to the UK distributors.

The pirates sell DVDs for £5 or 3 for £10. It probably costs them more to produce them than it costs warner or EMI or whoever as they have to pay full price for the blank media. This is why you can now get DVDs for £7.50 instead of £15.

Don't get me started about "rip-off Britain"!

I'm guessing you were talking about the BBC2 program "Trust me, I'm an economist"? I forgot to watch...but you can view it online here --->

(I love the BBCs new policy of letting people watch their programs online after they've been aired!) One I'll be watching this weekend :)

Really enjoyed it! Especially the Tescos bit and the "coupons are hush money" - makes me feel better with my free holidays, bed and saving for a kitchen from them!

And it was all that information that you already knew about, just didn't really think about!
