HELP! ex partner's name on mortgage and he is declaring himself bankrupt

Hi everyone,
I am new on here and would really appreciate your help

My ex partner who moved out two years ago is declaring himself bankrupt. I live in the property with my 4 year old son and have kept up with the payments. However due to my income they would not accept an application for the whole mortgage by myself as on paper i do not earn enough.

also due to my ex getting credit cards loans etc that i did not know about my credit rating is not the best.

The property is in negative equity, when he declares himself bankrupt how will this affect me?

Any help is greatly appreciated

I would talk to the CAB about it. It seems like hes got loans in both your names without you knowing, if so perhaps even a discussion with a solicitor may be useful to see if you can get those separated from your credit report and put purely on to his.
  • thank you for the advice.

However i still dont know how it will affect my mortgage/ house?

I was hoping someone else who knows more on that side would be able to comment and help. The CAB should be able to help you on that front. Its not something I've heard of or dealt with before so I'm not sure.
