Pirate Party - Game Ideas

Hi all
My daughter is having a pirate party in 2 weeks for her birthday but we are a little concerned that we dont have enough games to fill the 2 hours. there will be about 25 kids ages 2-4 (but mainly aged 4)
we have simon says, treasure hunts, musical bumps etc but are wanting as many ideas as possible, even as backups incase we are running ahead.
dont have to be pirate themed - but would be great if they were. we did want to incorporate a plank into a game but not sure how to - we have a length on vinyl wooden flooring as a make believe plank incase we need it.
thanks in advance
sam

Pin the parrot on the Pirate?
Maybe they could 'walk the plank'? It would simply be when they are out of a game and the best 'loser' wins a little something too? So whoever 'jumps' off the plank and dies the best?
How about some pirate questions and there is a yes and no corner? For example Do pirates live on a spaceship? YES/NO. Obviously the kids in the wrong corner are out.
Pirate themed songs included in the music.
Maybe a bingo type games with pirates themed pictures instead of numbers?0 -
I am also having a Pirate Party in 2 weeks! for my son
We are having a pirate themed bouncy castle, pass the parcel and also got a treasure chest pinyata (£5 from Home Bargains) which I have filled with chocolate coins.
If you are looking for Pirate tablewear, I got mine from Wilkinsons
Good luck with your party!Busy working Mum of 3

how about lucky dip? you could make it more fun by putting little food bags of prizes in a massive vat of broken up jelly, so they have to put their hands in the jelly to get a prize?
sleeping lions? but name it something different, like sleeping skeletons?
this has some good party game ideas http://www.boardmanweb.com/party/pirate.html

I will too be doing a pirate party for youngest son, who will be 4 at the end of july, this party however will be the third pirate party I have done, eldest had 2 pirate parties in succesion.
The first year I tried to cram too many things in and plus the kids were too busy messing on all the props to worry about the games.
Here is a few of the games I had in mind:
Bead making- when they first arrive ( I think by the secon year I had changed it abit, with using strawberry laces and cherrios, it seemed to work, but a lot was eaten)
Walk the plank- don't think we ever played this, Ihad thought about using a plak of wood over a small paddling pool filled with water.
Treasure hunt
Pinata- the first year we also got one out of home bargains, wasn't greatly impressed, as they are quite hard to break into, I then went onto to making my own, and this year, I'm not even going there, which will please hubby!
Pin the tail on the parrot
pin the eye patch on the pirate
Pass the parcel
Musical Islands- very easy to do, every child gets to stand on sheet of newspaper, when the music starts the kids dance around and 1 sheets is taken away each time, till there is only 2 children and 1 sheet remaining, winner is the last child standing on it.
panning for gold
peg leg race
hook a duck- I bought some cheap ducks, put a number on each duck, put them in a paddling pool (with water), each child had a turn to hook a duck out, the child with the winning number on the duck is the winner (number was picked previous to the party starting.
I didn't go made buying gold plates etc for the table, as kids don't seem to worry about things like that, I made bunting for outside, and bought a few pirate flags and ballons, we also had an inflatable crocodile, although he didn't survive the first party!
For party bags I bought some cheap buckets and spade with a hellium pirate ballon attached to it, which I will be doing this year too.
Hope this is some help to you, and I hope you have a good party!0 -
thanks everyone
i should have mentioned that the party is in the local village hall so cant do anything with water =/
we have sleeping pirates
a few canonball related games which involve throwing balls into a box (the pirate ship) whilst the captain (adult throws them back out) the kids have to try and get all the balls in before the time is up
a few other games too - i love the ideas with paddling pools etc but just cant do it this time =s0 -
Musical Islands instead of musical chairs. We used to have this at school and the "islands" were just bits of newspaper, but would suggest something non-slip as I remember one or two of us going flying!Comping, Clicking & Saving for Change0
