Selling products containing alcohol

Hi

can anyone tell me in simple words what are the rules covering making for sale products containing alcohol? I was thinking about HM sloe gin in this case.

Alternatively, what are the rules about giving it away with other HM non-alcoholic products, as a reward for buying them?

The regulations will not allow you to sell alcohol to retail customers in any form without having a personal license for you and a premises license for the place of sale.

By 'sell' I believe they mean either selling for money or exchanging for any goods or obligations. Hence, as an incentive to buy other items this would also not be allowed.

If you're selling them at a farmers' market or similar, then it may be that the market has a licence already, which you would be covered under.

If not, as Kevie says, you'd have to have a personal licence so you could sell them where ever it is you are hoping to do so.

Even if the premises has a license, you will still need a personal one to sell the alcohol. Might be worth looking into though if you'd like to sell it?

I'm sure your local Trading Standards office would be really happy to help you with this.
