Greetings from Turkey

Arrived in Marmaris in the early hours of Friday morning, apartments OK, weather great, had some fantastic food etc. etc.

UNFORTUNATELY


by 23:30 on Friday night I had broken a bone in my foot.

Just stepped off of a kerb from the pavement on to the road and there was a VERY LOUD CRACK ! and down I went like a the proverbial sack of potatoes

Swelling immediately and very painful.

A kind driver passing by got me back to the hotel where reception called for an ambulance.

Within 2 hours I was back at the hotel having been taken to hospital, had my foot examined, 2 X-rays taken, a fracture diagnosed and a cast fitted from just below the knee to my toes.

So I am on crutches

Need to go back to hospital on the day we fly home to get the cast split, have an injection to prevent DVT and get a "Fit to Fly" certificate.

Oh well, !!!!!! happens

Fortunately insurance (Insurefor worldwide premier policy via MoneySuperMarket.com) already sorted out.
Just paid the £50 excess and they've handled the rest - about £700 :eek:

(((Quoia))) so sorry to hear that Marmaris is such a great place (had my best ever holiday there 13 years ago). I hope you can manage to get out and about, despite having the plaster. Take care now.

Sorry to hear about your unfortunate accident but pleased tat the health care sounds excellent.

Makes us seem like a third world country!

There is no way you would have been seen within 2 hrs on a Friday night in my local hospital, let alone been treated and back safely in your hotel.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday and arrive home as planned.
