School Girl Error - Do you ever run away with yourself in effort to be DF?

I made a bit of a school girl error this month and I'm kicking myself!! Just because I ran away with myself.
Had planned to pay £600 off my Egg Money card which would pay the balance and for a new desk I have to purchase so my brother can take my current one (his) to his new home. So I changed my DD to £600 so I couldn't change my mind, job done, thought I!
Then in my messing in the intervening time I thought the money would be better used to pay off my loan (my card can be used again you see, once the money is paid off the loan I can't get at it! I'm getting better at controlling myself, but I still don't completely trust myself!) so went on this morning, paid £235 off loan, the actual DD payment of £140 would go on the first, and then when I was sure everything was paid etc. would pay another £200 off it. Remembered the Egg DD and went back in to change, except I can't!! Too close to the payment date!!!
I nearly made a rather large mess in my seat! Visions of bank charges danced in my head when they tried to take £600 pounds + rent + loan payment! Luckily, I managed to cancel my SO to my Mum for my rent so nothing will bounce and won't go over limit (and I can withdraw my rent from my Egg Money card cause they don't charge to do that so mum will still get shiny pennies!)
But have you ever done the same? Become just a little bit too clever for your own good and been pulled up on it? I'm feeling very relieved at the minute that I don't have to add any further cash to the letter to Natwest reclaiming my charges (which as it happens is only £170, was better at managing my account than I thought! Still it'll make a dent in the loan!)

YES!!! I did it last month.
I'm trying to start snowballing so I paid a bit extra off my evans store card (which has the highest interest balance) Normally I try to save £10 a week for a contingency fund birthdays/emergencies etc but after advice from other DFW's I decided to use my fund to pay extra off my card. I thought I had everyone's bd covered and couldn't see any reason why I would need that money....then 3 things happened at once and I ended up having to pay out for things I never imagined I would so ended up being £30 short of the minimum payment on on of my credit cards.
I should have been so smug thinking I had everything covered.0 -
