Business Case for a Training Course

Hi Everyone!
I am in the middle of writing a business case to my company, who will fund my BTEC National Certificate course. I need to state, how attending this course will benefit myself and more importantly, the company.
At the moment I made the point of increasing my technical knowledge, which will make me a better qualified resouce to the company.
If you have any suggetions that I could include I would be very grateful!
Enjoy the Sun!

If you become qualified exactly what benefit will that be to your employer?
You say it will make you a "better qualified resource" but how?
Can you perform more tasks?
Will you be able to do your task in a more efficient way?
Can you bring new business to the company?
Try and think of things that will specifically boost your worth to the company0 -
What's the course? and what's your job role?
Do others in the company have this course under their belts?, if so how does their job role differ from yours?
Given you've not given any details, the following are quite general:
*Have the background knowledge/increased skills to take on extra responsibilities within the company
*More knowledgeable and therefore perform tasks more time efficiently increasing productivity
*Shows you're dedicated to your current job role/company and want to maximise knowledge/skills/ability
*Adds to your continued professional development and the company's overall skill mix0 -
And don't forget networking on the course to increase company contacts/visibility in the trade/potential contact that could bring in new business0

The course is in electrical engineering and my job role is a trainee electrical engineer. I think I will need this qualification later on when when I would be looking for a more senior role within the company.0

National level qualifications are rarely worthwhile for someone of your age.. Couldn't you look at HNC level study which your company probably wouldn't need to fund or even a more general Engineering degree with the OU?0

You need to have a more positive reason than "I think".
How will having this qualification benefit you?
If you had to pay for it yourself do you think it would be worth doing the course?0 -

If the OP is trying to make a business case for course funding, surely the relevant question is "what benefit will the qualification bring to the company?"0 -

True, but the OP does not seem to be able to make out any benefits for themselves. If they could do that first then they might have a chance of seeing a benefit for the company.0 -

I'd agree with that. If you're going to do something you may as well go the whole hog. Isn't the BTEC National just the equivalent of an A level? Better to have, than to have not ..but an HNC would have more value.
In respect to any business case whatever you think of to put down as a benefit to your employer keep in mind the "so what". Like luckylucky said - if you state it will make you a better resource state how. Whats in it for your employer and just as significantly whats in it for your current boss/bosses because they'll likely have a big influence on whether you get it or not.0 -
I need to do the the national certificate before I do the HNC, which is what I want to do after.0
